I made it through those 6 weeks and immediately signed both of us up for the winter session. Ever since the first day of class together, I have always had him there to keep me going. He will never ease up on me because I'm female, let alone his wife. We went every night to class because we knew we had each other to count on. If I had a long day at work, I knew that spending some quality time with my husband and some kettlebells would make it all better. We kept at it every night until my schedule changed and I was no longer able to go at night last fall. Instead of keeping on with his sleep and schedule, Alex switched to 5am workouts with me. We joined a whole new group of people and made some great friends and gained a whole new motivation from the others in class. Throughout the past 3 years we have set some lofty goals together. My knee kept getting stronger and I kept working hard and following Matt's modifications to keep getting stronger.
First we wanted to do a 5K, which we did. In 45:00. Then we wanted to do more. Go faster, farther, and push ourselves harder. Coming to class and seeing the same people day in and day out working their tails off kept us going. We finished Dam to Dam, 2 warrior dashes, a half marathon, numerous 5Ks and last May with Matt and Julie pushing us along we completed a Tough Mudder. We ran 5Ks in under 30 minutes, lost over 100 pounds together, and completed every goal we have set out for side by side. When Brick House opened we could not have been more excited. Group fitness truly changed the way we look at fitness and made us so much stronger as individuals and as a couple. Our marriage and relationship thrives on the competitive edge we get from the group classes. I know he will shoot me a look of confusion if I am not giving 110%. When life gets so busy, I know that spending that time with him every day is something that is part of our lives that will continue forever.
